Barrelhouse Paso Robles

Barrelhouse Brewing Company, of Paso Robles, was one of the newcomers to this year's event.

The 27th Annual California Festival of Beers is in the books.

Good brew. Good music. Good times were had at the Madonna In in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on Saturday.

I'm not sure this year's event topped last year's in terms of the batches poured, but we also didn't get to all of the tents this year.

IPAs and stouts seemed to be the theme this year, although there were plenty of other beers to be had. There were even some coffee stouts, poured over coffee beans, a double red, as well as some new faces ... with newcomer Barrelhouse Brewing Company (which opened in February 2013) from Paso Robles making a nice push until after 3 p.m.

This year's event was also moved down to the Madonna Meadows, which made for a more cool, spacious event.

The big winner of the day was Hospice SLO, which provides grief counseling services to the community at no charge and was the benefactor of Saturday's fundraiser.

Here's a look at some of the beers we had a chance to taste toward the end of Saturday's event, as well as throughout the weekend at the local breweries in SLO:
