When I read the label, the 2012 Stone Collaboration TBA looked like a typical, sweet brown ale.
But when I tried it, I felt like I was sitting around the campfire drinking a hobby double.
And that is why I love collaborations.
This one, by Stone, Bear Republic and Fat Head's is one of the most unique beers I've ever had.
It literally tastes like a campfire in a bottle. Who woulda thought?
When, ice cold, the smokiness of this beer comes.
After it breathes, you can really see what these breweries were shooting for when they met up shortly before Christmas 2011.
An extra hoppy, Texas-style brown, made of specialty malts, molasses, brown sugar and four types of hops ... including Cascade for the first time at Stone.
Cheers to TBA, otherwise known as Campfire Brown.
