Leffe Brown

Leffe Brown

Submitted by on April 19, 2012

Whenever I'm thirsting for a good Belgian Ale I know exactly who to turn to ... Abbaye de Leffe.

Today I tried their Brown, or Brune Abbey Ale.

With a two-inch thick, macchiato-like head, this mocha-colored brown knows how to fill a glass.

This particular batch is 6.5%, but like the Leffe Blonde it's a more powerful brew than that.

This Anno 1240 tastes a lot like the blonde, but is somehow smoother. This robust beer sweetens as it warms, although I wouldn't know it because my glass is gone before the condensation comes off the chalice.

And that's a good thing.
